Casa Brio sleeps up to 10 guests. There are 4 luxury bedroom suites — 2 with fixed king beds and 2 that can be made up as kings or as twins — plus a media room that converts to a twin fifth bedroom. The villa is at its best with 8 guests, when the media room stays what it was designed to be: a cosy, air-conditioned movie hideaway. Rooms are made up for a maximum of 2 people; three to a room is not something we do. The whole house is reserved for one group at a time, so the 21-metre pool, the living pavilion and the rooftop terrace are yours alone.

Yes. The resident team — villa manager, butlers, housekeepers and gardener — is on hand from early morning until late at night, and if you are having a party they stay on until it finishes. A security guard is on site 24 hours a day, every day of your stay. The staff cook breakfast every morning and simple lunches during the day, and quietly look after housekeeping, drinks and arrangements the rest of the time. Many of the team have been with the villa for more than ten years.

Petitenget Beach is 750 metres from the gate — a walk of about 5 minutes. Casa Brio sits on Gg. Telaga Waja, a quiet residential lane in the Petitenget quarter of Seminyak, so the beach clubs and the restaurants of Jalan Kayu Aya are a stroll away and the lane itself stays silent. Ngurah Rai International Airport is 13 km away.

Yes. Massages, the signature flower bath and other treatments are brought to the villa by professional therapists and arranged by the villa manager, so nobody has to leave the house or hold a booking somewhere else. The media room doubles as a treatment room when you want one. Treatments are charged in addition to the nightly rate.

It was built for them. The 21-metre pool has a shallow section for small children, and a safety net can be stretched across it to keep toddlers out of the deep end — it is a net the staff put up when you want it rather than a permanent fence, and because the living pavilion opens onto the full length of the pool deck, you can watch them from a sofa. There are toys for the children, a cot, a high chair, a baby bath and a booster seat; the butlers are happy to babysit; and the kitchen will prepare special meals for babies and for the fussiest of eaters. A security guard is on site 24 hours a day, the ground floor is level throughout, and with room for 10 guests across 4 suites and the convertible media room, three generations can travel together without getting under one another’s feet.

There is no booking form and no call centre: you are talking to the team that runs the villa day to day, many of whom have been with it for more than ten years. Booking direct also means no intermediary is taking a commission on top of your nightly rate.

A 50% deposit secures the villa for bookings made more than 45 days before arrival, with the balance due 45 days before you check in. For bookings made inside 45 days, the full amount is payable to secure the reservation. Payments are non-refundable: if you cancel a confirmed booking the deposit is not returned, and travel insurance is the usual protection against having to. Rates are quoted ++, meaning 15.5% Indonesian government tax and service charge is added to the figure you are shown. The villa's published Terms & Conditions govern the booking in full and prevail over any summary, including this one.

There is no resident chef, and it would be misleading to suggest otherwise. What is included is this: the villa’s own staff cook breakfast every morning, and will make simple lunches during the day. A private chef is available on demand, at an additional charge, for banquet dinners in the villa — a Balinese feast, or a barbecue by the pool. The villa manager arranges it and plans the menu with you beforehand — Western, Asian, vegetarian, a children’s menu, or whatever the dietary requirements are. Groceries and provisioning are billed at cost price plus a 20% handling fee, so you can see what the food actually cost.

The fifth space is the media room: a cosy, air-conditioned movie hideaway beside the villa’s temple, which can be set up as a twin bedroom with its own shower room for a ninth and tenth guest. It is not a luxury suite, and at 8 guests we would rather you kept it as a TV room.

Yes, and unusually well for a Bali villa. The ground floor is level, and its living areas and bedrooms are reached by ramps rather than steps. Bedroom 2 — the downstairs twin/king suite — has grab bars in its bathroom, there is a hand rail in the downstairs guest bathroom, and every shower in the house admits a standard wheelchair. Both garden-level suites and the media room are on that level, so a less mobile guest never has to use the stairs, and the bathroom with the grab bars is on it. Tell the villa manager before you arrive and the rooms will be allocated around it.

Yes. Breakfast is cooked in the villa every morning of your stay and included in the rate, and floating it out to you on a tray in the 21-metre pool costs nothing extra — just tell the staff the night before. It is the most photographed thing that happens here, and it is also, still, breakfast: fresh fruit, juice, eggs however you like them, and coffee that keeps arriving.
